Careers in the Services Sector

The services sector ranks amongst the largest sectors in our economy and offers a wide range of career options. The scope of careers in this sector spans across services targeted at businesses and private individuals. From large financial services and consulting companies, to hair salons. An indication of the breath of economic activity that occurs within this sector.

It is with this in mind that the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) sought to split these sectors across various SETAs. As such, some services qualifications and occupations fall within the Banking, Insurance and Social Services SETAs. All other services that fall outside the scope of the above-mentioned sectors, fall within the Services SETA mandate.

Supervise workplace Approval and accreditation processes

  • Receive, capture and load applications
  • Process applications
  • Identify and allocate experts
  • Conduct site visits for audit purpose
  • Provide feedback to applicant workplace and NAMB, NADSC
  • Issue approval to approved workplaces
  • Provide workplace approval numbers
  • Do workplace approvals for artisan development
  • Provide support to LIPC in monitoring training implementation
  • Recommend accreditation to NAMB

 

Supervise and oversee trade test applications

  • Receive and verify applications from candidates on Application for Trade Test
  • Conduct checklist for compliance on trade test application to be completed
  • Issue dates for audits and reporting
  • if not compliant: liaise with the candidate to get documents compliant.
  • Verify and check the checklist for compliance on trade test applications, recommended and signed by the Officer
  • Ensure that learners complete logbooks
  • Capture on SQMR report for enrolments
  • Complete NADSC report template regarding completed files
  • Do a quality assurance check to see if candidate can access trade test with relevant supporting documents and make sure application is completed and signed
  • Produce report on registration to NADSC

 

Achievement of work plans

  • Execute work plans and drive the evidence collection in real time
  • Produce reports against the implementation of work plans
  • Respond to audit findings with complete evidence, on time
  • Implement documented data management practices
  • Comply to policies and procedures in the unit
  • Record, file and ensure the availability POP information

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 ( Matric)
  • Tertiary Qualification might be an advantage
