Job Description

We have an exciting career opportunity for final year students studying towards a National Diploma in Food Technology!

This is a one year workplace exposure and learning experience where the intern will work in a pressurised factory environment, with rotation between the lab and plant responsibilities (dependent on qualification completion requirements and Premier site requirements). Interns at Premier gain valuable in-service work experience, skills and knowledge that will assist them in furthering their careers.

The role entails the following:

Gaining practical exposure and experience in QC/QA processes by getting exposure to our labs and plants

In the labs you will:

Prepare chemicals for analysis

Test product samples

Report all results timeously

General housekeeping & participating in all lab processes and activities

Equipment calibration and verification

In the plants you will:

Shift hygiene, plant inspection and housekeeping

Reporting of operational non- conformities

Equipment verification

Product sample collection & submission to the lab

Other packing department activities:

Weight verification

Shift start up and end of shift QC consolidation.

Other packing department activities:

Weight verification

Shift start up and end of shift consolidation

Product and packing QC verification (batch codes, labelling, etc)

Qualification Requirements

Matric (Grade 12)

Tertiary institution logbook (stipulating the relevant exposure and experience needed)

Experience Requirements

  • There are no experience requirements, however the following is required:
  • Accurate record keeping of your workplace exposure and experience in your logbook, to ensure compliance with Seta and your learning institution reporting
  • Proactively report on any formal institutional requirement or training sessions
  • Willing to learn on how to translate your theoretical learning into practice
  • Perform all tasks communicated and required

Other Requirements:

Required to work Saturdays, Sundays & Public Holidays as per the business requirements.
