Minimum Qualifications

  • National Senior Certificate (Grade 12)

Experience required

  • At least 3-4 years consistent experience in graphic design, preferably in a retail marketing field weighted to social media.
  • Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in industry-standard design software (Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Have a solid understanding of design principles and the ability to adhere to Brand CI’s.

Skills required

  1. Graphic Design Software:
    • Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
  2. Typography:
    • Understanding of font selection and pairing.
    • Knowledge of kerning, tracking, and leading.
  3. Print Design:
    • Prepress and print production knowledge.
    • Experience with designing for various print materials (brochures, posters, banners).
  4. Web Design:
    • High proficiency in designing for web and digital platforms.
    • Knowledge of responsive design principles.
  5. Branding:
    • Ability to maintain and build brand identity.
    • Experience in design and brand collateral development.
  6. Illustration:
    • Illustrative design skills are advantageous.
    • Vector illustration strength.
  7. Photography Editing:
    • Photo retouching and manipulation.
    • Colour correction and image optimization.
  8. Animation:
    • Basic understanding of animation principles (for web or social media).
    • Experience with tools like Adobe After Effects.
  9. Project Management:
    • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  10. Communication:
    • Effective communication of design concepts and ideas.
    • Collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  11. Presentation Skills:
    • Ability to present and explain design concepts to stakeholders.
    • Creating visually appealing presentations.
  12. Technical Skills:
    • Knowledge of file formats and their appropriate use.
    • Familiarity with design standards and best practices.
  13. 3D Design (optional):
    • Experience in 3D modeling advantageous.
  14. Newsletter Design & Management:
    • Design and manage email list.
    • MailChimp, Remarkety, and similar.
