Job Overview

Transnet Port Terminals (TPT) is offering Transnet Training Programme Opportunities through its Young Professionals in Training (YPT) Programme. This 24-month structured initiative aims to prepare graduates for critical roles within TPT. Successful candidates will be placed in key functional areas based on academic background, career goals, and Transnet’s business needs.

This opportunity is ideal for graduates with a strong foundation in Psychology or Industrial Psychology and a passion for assessment, human behavior, and talent development.


Duties and Responsibilities

Participants in the programme will:

  • Follow a structured development and assessment plan over 24 months
  • Participate in bi-annual performance reviews
  • Submit monthly progress reports
  • Support the setup and operation of a functional Assessment and Development Centre
  • Design and apply customized talent assessment processes aligned to Transnet’s strategy
  • Evaluate external assessment offerings and implement tailored solutions
  • Interpret and report on psychometric results
  • Conduct skills audits and behavioral assessments
  • Facilitate and manage competency profiling and updates
  • Compile interview guides and lead assessment-related research
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and internal HR policies

Requirements

  • Degree in Industrial Psychology or Psychology
  • Certification in psychometric testing (or currently pursuing certification)
  • Registration with the HPCSA as an Industrial Psychologist or Psychometrist
  • Accreditation in multiple assessment tools is an advantage
  • 0 years of experience required (ideal for graduates)

Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of human behavior, learning, and motivation
  • Understanding of HR policies, assessment practices, and psychometric methods
  • Familiarity with the Health Professions Act, EEA, and labor regulations
  • Research and data analysis skills
  • Awareness of Transnet’s strategic goals and HR value chain
