Purpose of the Role

The primary function of the SBV Cash Processor is to ensure accurate and secure end-to-end cash processing, including deposits, sorting, counting, and reconciliation in line with bank SLAs and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Key Responsibilities

Cash Receiving & Prepping

  • Receive cash deposits and verify container/bag integrity
  • Acknowledge deposits and process them on applicable systems
  • Sort notes and prepare them for counting

Note Processing & Reconciliation

  • Sort all notes accurately before cut-off times
  • Check rejected notes for damage, counterfeit, dye-staining
  • Reconcile ACDP deposits and transfer verified cash to vaults

Desktop & Coin Processing

  • Handle desktop deposit prep and same-day reconciliation
  • Sort and process coin transfers and teller coin deposits

System & Client Integration

  • Validate system-linked transactions
  • Ensure account numbers are correct and escalate delays

Payroll & Change Transactions

  • Process payroll floats, prepare packaging as per client requirements
  • Obtain authorization and ensure SLAs are met

Equipment Handling

  • Use systems and machines according to SOPs
  • Report faults to the Team Controller promptly

Treasury Operations

  • Assist with ATM and bank cash packaging
  • Track seal numbers and manage consumables

Candidate Requirements

Education & Training:

  • Matric (Grade 12) with Maths Literacy
  • SBV Cash Processor Training (advantageous)

Experience:

  • 6–12 months’ experience in a teller or cashier role preferred
