What is the UIF Learnership Youth Programme?

The UIF Learnership Youth Programme is a six-month training initiative designed to equip participants with theoretical knowledge and hands-on retail skills. It’s ideal for individuals under 29 years old with a Grade 12 (Matric) certificate who are eager to grow and learn in a retail environment.


Learnership Structure and Duration

Participants will experience a balanced mix of theory and practical learning:

  • 10 days of in-class theory sessions
  • 5+ months of in-store practical training with guidance from experienced mentors
  • Continuous assessments, monitoring, and final moderation for certification

Note: Completion of the learnership does not guarantee employment, but greatly enhances employability and industry exposure.


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist with merchandising and stock management
  • Learn and apply customer service best practices
  • Support store operations under supervision
  • Demonstrate professionalism and punctuality
  • Engage in training sessions and assessments

Requirements

  • South African citizen aged 18–28 years
  • Must have Grade 12 (Matric)
  • Must be currently unemployed
  • Passion for retail and customer service
  • Eager to commit to the full programme duration
