Rand Water is seeking a skilled individual to assist artisans in cutting metal components and performing general maintenance tasks. Position Purpose
As an Artisan Assistant, your role will involve supporting qualified artisans in cutting metal for flanges, lugs, wedges, and brackets, while also helping maintain lifting equipment and ensuring general safety compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist artisans in using the Profile Machine to cut metal
- Help conduct scheduled inspections on lifting equipment, ladders, and cranes
- Clean and wrap pipelines with the spare team
- Load, unload, and move tools and equipment
- Erect scaffolding as required
- Maintain high safety standards and good housekeeping
- Adhere to SHE (Safety, Health, and Environment) standards
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric certificate)
- Valid driver’s license
- At least 2 years’ experience in a fitting workshop
- Supervisory experience is an advantage
- Physically able to work in confined spaces
- Basic SHE knowledge
Skills & Knowledge
- Understanding of lifting equipment and scaffolding operations
- Basic metal cutting and workshop procedures
- Operation of profile cutter and overhead crane
- Clear verbal communication
- Tool usage and safety awareness
