About the Role
Sasol Looking General Workers will support the Maintenance Team by assisting with equipment maintenance, welding, fitting, and electrical tasks. The role requires adherence to procedures and safety standards to ensure the reliability and sustainability of equipment.
The Directional Drilling General Worker will assist the Directional Drilling Team by providing drilling support while maintaining safety and operational standards.
Sasol Looking General Workers : Key Responsibilities
- Perform welding on mining equipment using the flux core method.
- Operate welding equipment safely and efficiently.
- Cut and pre-heat materials using oxy-fuel gas cutting equipment.
- Assist with overhead crane and lifting equipment operation.
- Complete job-specific tasks and checklists accurately.
- Conduct visual inspections and report unsafe conditions.
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Codes of Practice (COPs).
- Maintain housekeeping standards.
- Work effectively within a team to achieve goals.
- Participate in daily meetings to discuss work assignments.
- Identify and report any abnormal conditions.
- Support cost-saving initiatives within the team.
- Assist artisans with day-to-day tasks.
Job Requirements
Qualifications:
- Grade 12/N3/NCV Level 4
Experience, Knowledge, and Skills:
- Ability to use an angle grinder and operate a cutting torch
- Knowledge of underground machinery, including:
- Shuttle Car
- Roof Bolter
- Crushers
- Feeder/Feeder Breaker
Technical Skills:
- Knowledge of safety procedures and regulations
- Understanding of the Mine Health & Safety Act and OSHA
- Ability to read and interpret work instructions
- Emergency preparedness and safety awareness
