Duties & Responsibilities

Successful candidates will be responsible for:

  • Executing roles outlined in Chapter 3 of the Treasury Regulations.
  • Providing independent advice to the Executive Authority and Accounting Officer.
  • Participating in at least four official meetings per financial year.
  • Reviewing financial controls, audit plans, and departmental compliance.
  • Ensuring transparent reporting and ethical financial management.

Requirements

To be considered for the Department audit committee roles, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Hold a postgraduate degree in Accounting, Auditing, Financial Management, or Information Systems.
  • Be independent and affiliated with a recognized professional body (e.g., CIA, CA(SA), RA, CISA).
  • Have 10 or more years of experience on an audit or similar financial committee.
  • Demonstrate in-depth understanding of public finance controls, ethical conduct, and independent judgement.
  • Be committed to principles such as integrity, accountability, and public service excellence.
