About the TFG Trainee Planner Programme
TFG (The Foschini Group) is looking for dynamic graduates to join its Trainee Planner Programme. This structured learning journey equips participants with the tools to become future merchandise planners who play a crucial role in delivering the right merchandise to the right stores at the right time.
As a Trainee Planner, you’ll gain a strong understanding of sales performance, stock management, profitability, and category planning—while working closely with TFG’s buying and planning teams.
Key Responsibilities
Job Learning:
- Demonstrate awareness of key performance factors in current trade
- Learn how to manage stock efficiently to meet KPIs
- Participate in developing product assortments aligned with trade and strategy
- Understand how to forecast financial plans and adjust for sales, stock, and markdowns
Current Trade Analysis:
- Analyze financial KPIs by season, category, and subcategory
- Contribute to trade performance reports and re-forecasting action plans
- Conduct store visits and competitive market analysis
Assortment Planning:
- Build and maintain assortment plans with the buying and location teams
- Use APS (Assortment Planning System) to manage product data
- Extract and interpret assortment reports
Order Placement & Allocation:
- Accurately create seasonal order lines with product and pricing details
- Resolve order issues and support the planning team with allocations
- Ensure deadlines are met according to the trading calendar
Minimum Qualifications
To be eligible for the TFG Trainee Planner role, you must have:
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- A completed degree in one of the following fields:
- Commerce, Business Science, Accounting
- Statistics, Economics, Finance
- Marketing, Strategic Management
- Supply Chain, Logistics, or Retail
- Relevant retail or analytical experience is advantageous
