Role Purpose

As a General Worker at Sasol, you will support the Maintenance Team with equipment maintenance, welding, fitting, electrical assistance, and ensure the sustainability of mining equipment. Your key tasks will include assisting in Directional Drilling, following safety protocols, and completing maintenance checks to ensure smooth operations.

  • Welding: Use flux core welding methods to maintain mining equipment
  • Crane Operation: Assist with operating overhead cranes and lifting equipment
  • Inspection & Safety: Ensure safety standards and housekeeping protocols are followed
  • Task Reporting: Complete daily task checklists and assist in identifying abnormal conditions
  • Teamwork: Collaborate effectively with colleagues to meet team goals
  • Cost Management: Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives

Job Requirements General Worker Sasol South Africa

  • Qualifications:
    • Grade 12, N3, or NCV Level 4 (Maths & Science preferred)
    • Driver’s License (minimum Code 08)
    • First Aid Certificate (advantageous)
    • Able to obtain a Medical Certificate of Fitness
  • Experience & Skills:
    • 12 months welding experience
    • Ability to use an angel-grinder and cutting torch
    • Knowledge of underground machinery (e.g., Shuttle Car, Roof bolter)
    • Previous Plant experience (advantageous)
    • Ability to use MIG welding equipment (advantageous)
  • Competencies:
    • Strong safety awareness and knowledge of Mine Health & Safety Act
    • Ability to follow SOPs and COPs
    • Good problem-solving and communication skills
