If you’re between 18 and 23 years old, hold a Grade 12 and a health science qualification, and are eager to gain practical work experience, this 18-month internship based in Johannesburg may be the perfect fit for you.
About Road Accident Fund
RAF is dedicated to providing appropriate cover to road users across South Africa. The organisation’s mission is to rehabilitate and compensate individuals injured in road accidents in a timely and caring manner while promoting safer road usage.
Internship Purpose
This internship aims to develop youth skills by offering unemployed graduates practical exposure in the Medical Management Department. Interns will work closely with professionals in the field and build experience across administrative, clinical, and case-related tasks.
Work-Based Exposure May Include:
- Conducting medical assessments and compiling injury assessment reports
- Assisting in multi-disciplinary reviews and adjudication of complex cases
- Updating exception handling processes and reviewing claim documentation
- Assessing quality of care, level of treatment, and appropriateness of medical claims
- Drafting reports and assisting with process improvement initiatives
- Handling queries and liaising with internal and external stakeholders
- Monitoring emerging risks and providing feedback
Requirements
- Grade 12 / NQF 4 certificate
- National Diploma, Advanced Diploma, or B Degree in Health Science or a medical-related field
- South African ID (certified)
- Certified academic transcript (compulsory)
- Up-to-date CV and motivational letter

Internship Stipend
- R96,000.00 total stipend over 18 months
- Interns will receive a monthly payment for the duration of the programme
